A Weekend Getaway. A chance to relax. Rejuvenate. Restore some closeness
with one another. Recover some excitement together. Have fun! Chuck and
Tom (and their Cairn terrier, Mac) do their best to make you feel welcome
and help you find whatever it is you're looking for.
The Pillars is a grand old (1870) Victorian mansion. Inside, 7 guest
suites are decorated with individual decor and theme. All the guest rooms
can be found at: www.pillars2.com.
Downstairs, guests enjoy the Music Room with its marine decor. Ships of
all kinds and many marine paintings can be found throughout the house. In
the Living Room, browse the library. If the weather is nice use the
rockers or the swing on the front porch. Take a book out to the serenity
of the back yard and use one of the Adirondack lounge chairs under the
trees. Breakfast is served in the dining room, where 8 oversize windows
bring the morning sun in through a collection of colored glass, and
breakfast aromas waft into the grand foyer, and up the three-story winding
staircase - stopping only at the stained glass skylight.
Lots of things to do. Plainfield has George Washington's Headquarters -
now the Drake House Museum. A little further is New Hope and Lambertville,
known for fine art and antiques, a great place to spend a whole day
walking around on both sides of the Delaware River. A scorcher? Consider
the "Sandy Hook" beach. Hiking? Great hiking trails nearby. Fine dining is
everywhere in this part of New Jersey - or just hop the train and head
into Manhattan. Bad weather? Some of the finest shopping anywhere can be
found at the Short Hills (upscale) mall, or the Jersey Gardens (outlet)
mall. It's all here. For you. For fun. For relaxation. For rejuvenation.
