La Maison Cappellari at Mostly Hall
Cape Cod,
Falmouth, Massachusetts
Web Site:

Hidden splendor, this Italianate Villa brings sophisticated European Style in a relaxed atmosphere. Set back from the street on over an acre of park-like gardens off the Falmouth Village Green, La Maison Cappellari at Mostly Hall offers a secluded location in the heart of the town's historic district.

Built in 1849 for a sea captain's southern bride, the house was named Mostly Hall after the vast central hallways that gave the inn an air of spaciousness.

Mostly Hall is less than a mile from the beach and is situated close to restaurants, a pleasant shopping area, tennis, golf, ferries to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket and the Shining Sea Bikeway to Woods Hole. Complimentary bicycles are available for your use.

Breakfast is served in the beautiful large fireplaced living room or, weather permitting, on the veranda. At times, breakfast is served on the grass in the shadow of the beautiful mature trees which adorn the property. Enjoy a light seafood meal, with several kinds of caviar, seafood salad, octopus salad, and other delights, or, at other times, a wide variety of cheeses and spreads imported from European countries. Pastries and fresh fruit salad will complete the feast.

The morning table setting is enhanced by the presence of special dishware manufactured by Vista Alegra - Mottahedeh - for Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. The pattern was designed for the Duke of Gloucester circa 1770 and is remarkable in detail. Other settings include products from Deruta - Italy - in the Raffaellesco pattern and accent pieces from Limoges, France.

On occasional afternoons, enjoy seasonal refreshments, pastries, or cheeses.

The Captain's Room, on top of Mostly Hall, is an observatory where you can peacefully read a book or, in the evenings, see what the satellite channels have to offer. In the garden you can relax in the gazebo listening to the birds or gazing at the stars.

On the National Register of Historic Places, the inn offers six comfortable corner guest rooms with queen-size canopy beds, pleasant seating areas and private baths with showers. Unique mural paintings offer room escapes and can be admired in some of the rooms and in the common zones. Hand painted furniture, Artist Edition sinks and other original aspects will contribute to make your stay unforgettable. Bed-linens come from Italy and Germany, in intricate and sophisticated patterns.

Enjoy the Inn as a relaxing and convenient base while you explore Cape Cod's many historic towns, its National Seashore and the nearby islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Take time for a whale watch, canal cruise or scenic train ride. Play a round of golf or search for cranberry bogs. Do lots of antique shopping or admire the art galleries.

Whatever your interests, we will help you with maps and schedules and offer entertainment, sight-seeing and restaurant suggestions. Because of its special attractions, each season becomes a special reason for you to come for a visit on Cape Cod. We will be happy to have you stay in our mansion.
