We have always considered
it an absurdity that places dedicated to wine ceased to exist in Florence
after the disappearance of the old wine merchants. By this we mean
particular places where wine is poured and where one may end up seated at
savouring the pleasures of a break for conversation and tasting. For this
we propose tasting meetings and an introduction to the pleasures of Tuscan
wine and food, cooking lessons and excursions to wineries. All this in an
entertaining atmosphere, and a splendid renaissance environment.
Here are some examples:
A tasting session about
Tuscan wines led by our wine-making expert - duration about 2 hours,
including tasting of three wines accompanied with some toasts.
A cooking lesson from 5 to
9 p.m. with a historic introduction to the dishes and their preparation.
From 7 to 8.30 p.m. you will have dinner with the specialities you have
prepared and wines that go well with them.
An excursion of one or
half day, accompanied by our wine-making expert, to small Tuscan
farm-houses, including a visit to their wine-cellars, wine tasting and
A program of one or two
weeks including Italian language lessons in the mornings and wine tasting
sessions, cooking lessons and excursions to the Chianti and Montalcino
districts in the afternoons
The first three activities
can be organized specially for yourself on any day of the year. The last
program is held as a group course on fixed dates. Detailed information and
prices available on the internet at the address http://www.vinaio.com,
clicking respectively the options "wine tasting", "cooking lessons", "farm
excursions", and "Bread, wine and language.”
