Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, Ireland
Elegant Country House, Bed and Breakfast Accommodation
Ballinkeele House, bordering on the village
of Ballymurn, is an ideal location, where the traveller can slow down,
relax, recharge his whole being and also see a beautiful lesser known part
Ballinkeele is an elegant and gracious
Irish Manor House which is not a Hotel or a Country Inn. It is a family
home offering guests peace and tranquility and the opportunity to enjoy
luxury accommodation and hospitality of a more gentler age.
Ballinkeele House offers guests the perfect
blend of elegant Country House interiors with traditional Bed and
Breakfast Accommodation - the ideal way to spend a vacation in the
wonderful countryside of Co Wexford, Ireland.
The front entrance is dominated by the
magnificent portico, with its large Wicklow granite pillars supporting the
balcony roof. The entrance hall is large and spacious with Corinthian
columns, decorated ceiling and large fireplace, which offers a warm and
inviting welcome on colder days.
The drawing room is a haven of relaxation
where guests can lay back in one of the comfortable chairs or the big old
sofa and read, listen to music, chat or allow ones mind to wander whilst
gazing out of the sun baked windows.
The floating staircase winds its way up to
the bedroom floor, where the Master Bedroom with its original four poster
bed and furniture enjoys fabulous views over the surrounding countryside.
Each of the other bedrooms feature original furniture, large comfortable
beds and lovely views. The balcony bedroom, as its name implies, looks out
onto the portico roof. This room has the only en-suite bathroom. The
others have en-suite showers, except the superior Blue Room which has both
bath and shower en-suite.
The dining room offers guest the
opportunity to experience first hand the Country House grandeur of bygone
years. Decorated in the period of the house with candle light reflecting
off the beautiful chandelier, guests can enjoy their evening meal and
bottle of wine around the old family table.
Ballinkeele House is much more than a
luxury Bed & Breakfast Inn. It is the aim of Margaret, a self taught cook,
with the help of her mother, who has won awards in Scotland and is a
member of the European Community of cooks, to promote the use of naturally
produced ingredients in their cooking.
Locally produced meat and fish are used,
accompanied by fresh fruit and vegetables produced from their own garden
Margaret strives to satisfy all the senses
with her cooking; the taste, the smell and the presentation of each dish,
combined with the relaxing surroundings of the magnificent dining room
come together to enhance the enjoyment of really good food.
The area has a wealth of
facilities and events throughout the year making this the perfect
destination for an activity vacation or holiday in Ireland.
Ballinkeele is ideally
situated for visiting a wide range of historic and archaeological sites
and gardens. Kilkenny, Waterford, the Wicklow Mountains and Dublin are
all within easy reach and there are six golf courses within one hourís
drive, and riding stables just 30 minutes drive. One of John and
Margaretís large breakfasts will set you up for a day of exploration or
for your special activity be it fishing, golf, riding or walking.
The extensive gardens at
Ballinkeele as well as numerous Gardens to Visit or Tour in the area
ensure the gardening enthusiast has plenty to see and do.
Should you prefer to spend
your days at Ballinkeele House you can play croquet, cards or chess, or
simply put your feet up and read.
You can be assured that when
staying at Ballinkeele you will sleep well, eat well, leave with a
feeling of well-being and perhaps even a few regrets at having to leave
our little haven of peace.......but you can always come back again!
