The Adair proudly hosts guests from around the world who seek warm hospitality, comfortably elegant surroundings, fine food, and personalized attention in an informal, rural setting.

From the very first time you approach this majestic home, you will easily understand why it has been hosting guests for nearly 75 years. With its long drive, bordered by stone walls, its setting on a knoll with spectacular views of the White Mountains, its rugged landscaping inspired by the Olmsted Brothers, and its graceful colonial revival design, Adair is pleasing to the eye and worthy of a painting.

While Adair's rich history is closely linked with the legal profession, today it proudly hosts guests from around the world who seek warm hospitality, comfortably elegant surroundings, fine food, and personalized attention in an informal, rural setting.

Innkeeper Bill Whitman's elaborate gardens ultimately entice guests for exploration and relaxation. Here, amidst perennial beds and stone walls, one can enjoy the colors, aromas, and butterflies and hummingbirds that it attracts. Keeping a watchful eye on the grounds that surround Adair can be rewarding. The Adair Green Program includes working with a forester to optimize Adair's land to attract butterflies, songbirds, and small animals. On occasion, our guests have even spotted a black bear and a moose.

Accommodations

The Inn has ten spacious guest accommodations. There are nine rooms in the main building and a private, two-bedroom, one-bath cottage at the base of the hill next to the gated garden.

Each guest room at Adair is named after a mountain in the Presidential Range. Although each is unique in terms of layout, all share certain common elements: either a queen or a king bed, private bath with tub and shower, reading chair, air conditioning, personalized bath amenities, fleece robes, turndown service, hair dryer & magnifying mirrors, Lindt chocolates, CD players in all rooms.

Additionally, there are spacious gathering rooms for guests' use. On either side of the central foyer there is a large and comfortable living room and intimate, fireplaced dining room.

Flavorful food, made with only the freshest ingredients and artfully presented, is a major focus at Adair. Our intimate dining room with fireplace and wonderful views of gardens front and back, is filled with enticing aromas both morning and night.

Dinner at Adair should not be missed. Tim-bir Alley is a seasonal restaurant, which serves arguably the finest food in the North Country. It has received glowing reviews in Gourmet, New England Travel Guide, and Yankee to mention a few.

Tim-bir Alley is owned and operated by Tim and Biruta Carr. Tim prepares new American cuisine with Southeast Asian and Southwest American overtones. Each plate is artfully presented and served skillfully by Biruta.
